Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide arrived in Islamabad on Thursday for a two-day official visit, marking the first such trip in ten years. He was welcomed by Additional Foreign Secretary Ayesha Ali upon arrival. The visit comes at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, with both officials scheduled to hold delegation-level talks. Discussions will focus on strengthening Pakistan-Norway relations, particularly in trade, investment, renewable energy and education. Climate change and regional developments will also be key topics of conversation. This visit follows prior engagement including phone calls and a visit by a Norwegian State Secretary earlier this year, signalling a renewed push for cooperation between the two nations. The Foreign Office anticipates strengthened ties and identification of new collaborations as a result of Eide’s trip.
