The Borgarting lagmannsrett, a court in Norway, will hear the appeal of Marius Borg Høiby. Høiby was sentenced in June to four years in prison for two rapes, domestic abuse, violence, and multiple violations of a restraining order. He is appealing the convictions for rape and domestic abuse, charges he has consistently denied. His defense lawyer, Petar Sekulic, stated the appeal was expected. Prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø previously indicated he believes a new trial is unnecessary, but the case will proceed to the Borgarting lagmannsrett for review. The outcome of the appeal could alter Høiby’s sentence or the convictions themselves.
