Norway’s new national electricity price cap, “Norgespris,” has saved households nearly 15 billion kroner since its implementation last October. The scheme, a voluntary option for consumers, provides more predictable energy costs during a winter marked by international instability and high spot prices. According to government calculations, over 1.6 million households had opted into Norgespris as of April. Energy Minister Terje Aasland highlighted the savings and credited parliamentary support for the policy’s success, noting it passed despite opposition from several parties. Norgespris is financially supported by the state and applies to both primary residences and secondary homes. The figures cover the period from October 2025 to May 2026, demonstrating the policy’s immediate impact on consumer bills.
