Norway’s population is forecast to increase from its current 5.6 million to 6.2 million by 2050, according to projections released by Statistics Norway (SSB). A significant portion of this growth is expected to be attributed to immigration. The data also indicates a demographic shift, with the number of residents aged 65 and over surpassing those under 20 by 2032. By 2050, one in five Norwegians is projected to be 70 years or older. Furthermore, the proportion of the population aged 80 and above is anticipated to double, rising from approximately 5% to over 10%. These projections highlight an aging population trend within Norway.
