The train strike in Norway is set to continue into next week, as negotiations between the locomotive engineers’ union (NLF) and employers have failed to reach an agreement. NLF leader Rolf Ringdal confirmed to NRK that the parties remain too far apart to find common ground. A compulsory mediation session has been scheduled for this coming Friday, where both sides will reconvene in an attempt to resolve the dispute. The NLF had previously indicated a possible escalation of the strike if no agreement was reached, but a decision on that front has not yet been made. Currently, 72 locomotive engineers are on strike, significantly impacting train traffic, particularly in the Østlandet region. The strike began on September 18th and stems from the merger of Vy and Flytoget.
