North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles towards the waters east of the country, according to the South Korean military. The launches originated from an area around Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, a location frequently used for such tests. While the exact number of missiles and their range remain undisclosed, Japan’s Ministry of Defense detected at least two, estimating they landed in open sea outside its exclusive economic zone. This launch follows recent missile tests by both Koreas, including a South Korean projectile designed to evade missile defense systems and a North Korean hypersonic missile intended to bypass South Korea and Japan's defenses. Additionally, North Korea has demonstrated new warships and continues to reject diplomatic overtures from the United States and South Korea. Tensions escalated further last month with landmine explosions near the heavily guarded border, injuring three South Korean soldiers, which Seoul and the UN attribute to North Korea; Pyongyang denies involvement.
