Experts express concern over the lack of tangible progress in implementing the Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord after five months of the current government’s tenure. The assessment was made during a discussion meeting held at Dhaka’s Press Club on Wednesday, titled “BNP-led Government’s Five Months: An Evaluation of the Implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Agreement.” Speakers at the event noted a visible absence of concrete steps towards fulfilling the terms of the accord. Dipayan, a key member of the Chittagong Hill Tracts implementation movement, was among those who voiced these concerns. The discussion focused on evaluating the current government’s performance regarding the landmark peace agreement. Observers fear further delay could jeopardize the peace and stability of the Chittagong Hill Tracts region. The lack of action raises questions about the government’s commitment to the long-standing agreement.
