Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied accusations from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding alterations to their candidate list for State House of Assembly seats. The NDC alleged that INEC replaced nominated candidates in Anambra and Benue states with unauthorized names. However, INEC maintains its records demonstrate the listed candidates were those originally submitted to the commission on Form EC9E. The electoral body asserts it did not make any independent changes to the NDC's nominations. This response aims to clarify the situation and address the NDC’s concerns about potential manipulation. INEC emphasized that the responsibility for candidate submissions lies with the political parties themselves. The commission is preparing for upcoming elections and seeks to ensure a transparent process.
