Nigeria’s team emerged victorious at the 4th ECOWAS Regional Cybersecurity Hackathon 2026 in Accra, winning a $10,000 grand prize. The four-day event, hosted by the ECOWAS Commission and Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority, focused on fostering regional collaboration to enhance digital resilience in West Africa. Participants included cybersecurity professionals, ethical hackers, and software developers from across the region. Nigeria’s win was attributed to their demonstrated innovation, technical skill, and ability to overcome challenges during the competition. The hackathon’s theme highlighted the importance of technology in building a more secure digital landscape for West Africa. The event aimed to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities and promote cooperation among ECOWAS member states.
