Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has cautioned contractors who received Federal Government funds but have not commenced work on allocated projects. The Minister warned that those failing to mobilize to project sites face potential sanctions. These penalties could include investigations and actions initiated by both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Umahi’s statement serves as a strong directive to ensure accountability in the utilization of public funds. This move signals a commitment to addressing project delays and ensuring effective infrastructure development across Nigeria. The warning was issued in Abuja, emphasizing the government’s resolve against corruption and non-performance. The aim is to safeguard public resources and deliver on infrastructure promises to citizens.
