ValueJet, a Nigerian airline, is requesting Boeing to establish a flight simulator facility within Nigeria. The airline’s CEO, Captain Omololu Majekodunmi, believes this would significantly reduce the substantial foreign exchange costs associated with sending pilots abroad for training. A local simulator would also lower overall training expenses and contribute to improved aviation safety standards within the country. This request coincides with the start of Boeing’s initial phase of advanced technical training programs. The airline hopes the investment will alleviate financial pressures caused by currency fluctuations. Establishing the simulator locally would keep training funds within Nigeria’s economy and enhance the skills of Nigerian aviation professionals.
