The Czech Road Directorate (ŘSD) has presented findings from the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for a new section of highway I/73, connecting Svitavy and Brno, to local mayors. A public hearing on the project is scheduled after the summer break. A key aspect of the plan involves the innovative use of approximately four million cubic meters of excavated earth. This surplus material will be repurposed for the construction of protective embankments, a first for a project of this scale in the country. This approach aims to minimize waste and provide additional flood protection measures. The project details are now available for review prior to the public discussion. Further information regarding the hearing will be announced shortly.
