Peru’s banking regulator, the SBS, has announced eight new financial entities are progressing towards operating within the country. These firms originate from the United Kingdom, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Vietnam, and Peru itself, indicating diverse international interest. The companies represent a range of financial services, including traditional banking, finance companies, and electronic money providers. Superintendent Sergio Espinosa revealed the entities are at various stages of the approval process. This expansion is expected to increase competition and potentially broaden financial service access for Peruvians. The SBS is overseeing the integration of these new players into the Peruvian financial landscape. Further details regarding specific services offered by each entity will be released as approvals are finalized.
