Veronika Boskovic Pohar has officially begun her term as the new European Union Ambassador to Cameroon, presenting her credentials on September 2, 2026. She replaces Jean Marc Châtaigner, whose mission concluded in August. During the ceremony with Cameroon’s Minister of External Relations, discussions centered on the ongoing cooperation between Cameroon and the EU, as well as the country’s socio-political landscape. Ambassador Pohar, a seasoned diplomat with 20 years of experience, previously served as the head of the EU delegation in Afghanistan since September 2024. Her expertise spans security policy, multilateral relations, and EU foreign policy, including crisis management and consular affairs. Prior to this, she held roles in Slovenia and served as an ambassador representing the Political and Security Committee. She expressed her commitment to collaborating with Cameroonian authorities to achieve established objectives.
