Newly appointed Commander of the National Strategic Command (CNSC), General Aamer Raza, met with Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The meeting followed Raza’s recent promotion to four-star general and appointment to the critical role of overseeing Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal. Munir congratulated Raza on assuming command, and Raza was also presented with a guard of honour and laid a wreath at the Yadgar-i-Shuhada memorial. The CNSC position was established through the 27th Constitutional Amendment, replacing the role previously held by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. Critically, the amendment stipulates that appointments and terms of the CNSC are solely at the CDF’s discretion and cannot be challenged in court, bolstering a unified command structure. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif previously congratulated Raza on his appointment to this important responsibility.
