Residents of Nawaeb, Papua New Guinea, can now safely cross the Busu River thanks to the completion of a new bridge. For three and a half years, the community—including vulnerable populations like mothers and children—relied on a temporary, precarious swing bridge after the original structure collapsed. This temporary solution posed significant risks for daily activities, particularly for coffee farmers transporting their goods. The new Busu Bridge restores vital access for the entire Nawaeb area, improving safety and facilitating economic activity. The bridge’s completion signifies a major improvement in infrastructure and quality of life for the people of Nawaeb. This project addresses a critical need and removes a long-standing barrier to essential services and commerce.
