Cameroon’s Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, received Jérôme Notebaert, the new director of the French Development Agency (AFD), in Yaoundé on July 17th. The meeting served as both a farewell to outgoing director Virginie Dago and an introduction of her successor. Discussions focused on reviewing the successful partnership between Cameroon and the AFD, highlighting major infrastructure projects like bridges over the Sanaga, Wouri, and Logone rivers. The parties also discussed the upcoming Douala-Bangui economic corridor development program, specifically the rehabilitation of the Edéa-Douala section of National Road N°3 and construction of a second Dibamba bridge. Notebaert pledged to continue Dago’s work efficiently and on schedule. The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing the national road network as the C2D debt relief-development contract nears completion, having provided over 967 billion CFA francs to Cameroon’s economy since 2006.
