A new 300-bed, level 3 hospital, El Hadji Malick Sy, is scheduled to open in Tivaouane, Senegal on August 10, 2026. The hospital, funded by a 46 billion FCFA investment through the FONSIS sovereign wealth fund, aims to significantly improve healthcare access in the Thiès region. Equipped with advanced diagnostic and resuscitation technology, the facility will offer over twenty medical and surgical specialties, alongside a dedicated mother-child center. Key features include six operating rooms, a 20-bed emergency unit, a specialized burn unit, and a complete medical imaging platform featuring MRI and scanners. Furthermore, an integrated teaching center with a 200-seat amphitheater will support continuous professional development. The hospital is expected to address the growing healthcare needs of the local population and its surrounding areas.
