Turkey’s central exam for transitioning to high school, the LGS, is underway across all 81 provinces and 920 districts, held in 4,244 school buildings. Over 1.2 million eighth-grade students are participating in the examination nationwide. The exam is also being administered at 11 test centers in eight countries internationally. Hürriyet Education Service reporter Melike Çalkap is observing the exam at the Büyükşehir Hüseyin Yıldız Anatolian High School in Istanbul. The LGS results will be a key factor in determining which high schools students will attend. The exam’s implementation is being closely monitored to ensure a smooth process for all participants. This year’s applicant number represents a significant cohort of students vying for placement in secondary education institutions.
