Krkonoše National Park administrators are undertaking efforts to restore historic mountain meadows within the park boundaries. These meadows, once used for grazing, are being overtaken by forest and blueberry shrubs due to decades of abandonment. Restoration work involves utilizing machinery, such as brush cutters, to clear encroaching vegetation. The project focuses on areas like Dvoračky, located above Rokytnice nad Jizerou at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters. The aim is to revitalize these traditional landscapes and prevent complete forestation of the meadows. This initiative seeks to recreate the conditions that supported biodiversity in the past. Park officials hope to reverse the trend of habitat loss and preserve the unique character of the Krkonoše mountains.
