NASA is recruiting volunteers for a unique, year-long Mars simulation called Moon & Mars Exploration Analog (MMEA). The expedition, based on Earth, will begin no earlier than August 2027. The Johnson Space Center in Houston announced the call for participants. This analog mission aims to study the challenges of long-duration spaceflight without actually leaving Earth. Volunteers will live in a habitat designed to mimic conditions on Mars. The simulation will help NASA prepare for future crewed missions to the Moon and Mars, focusing on resource management and psychological effects of isolation. It’s a key step in understanding how humans will adapt to life on another planet.
