Australian authorities are investigating the origin of several mysterious metal spheres that washed ashore on the northern coast of Queensland over the weekend. Six of the objects were discovered at Forrest Beach, north of Townsville, and are currently being treated as potential space debris. Specialists in protective suits have secured the spheres in a containment zone, established with a 50-meter radius, due to concerns they may contain hazardous materials. Authorities are advising the public to avoid contact with any similar objects and report them immediately to emergency services. Online speculation suggests the spheres may be fuel tanks from rockets, potentially containing highly flammable or reactive substances. This isn’t the first such incident in Australia; a large metal sphere found near Perth in 2023 was identified as part of an Indian rocket.
