The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will host the first Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra Festival in Kuala Lumpur in June 2026. The week-long event, running from June 21st to 28th, aims to develop emerging musical talent across the region. Supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the festival will feature young instrumentalists from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Headlining the festival will be acclaimed Malaysian artists Aina Abdul and Amir Masdi. This inaugural festival marks a significant step in fostering collaboration and artistic growth within Southeast Asia’s orchestral community. Organizers anticipate the event will provide a platform for showcasing the region’s promising young musicians. The festival intends to become a recurring event, solidifying Kuala Lumpur’s position as a regional hub for orchestral music.
