Mozambique’s Council of Ministers approved revisions to the country’s Road Code and a new regulation for the industrial sector. The Road Code update aims to modernize traffic laws to reflect current national and international standards, technological advancements, and sustainable mobility needs. Key changes include enhanced traffic violation enforcement through surveillance cameras, alignment with national criminal law, and the inclusion of regulations for electric, hybrid, and gas-powered vehicles. The revised code will also introduce a points-based driver’s license system and stricter controls for professional drivers. Simultaneously, the government approved a new Industrial Licensing Regulation, replacing a 2014 decree, to modernize and streamline the licensing process for industrial activities, adapting it to current economic and technological dynamics. President Nyusi also participated in a forum on fragility, conflict, and violence in Washington D.C., sharing Mozambique’s experience in building resilience and sustainable development.
