Mozambique has secured the right to host the Global Tourism Forum in 2027, announced President Daniel Chapo following a successful investment summit in Luanda, Angola. The event is expected to significantly boost the nation’s profile as a tourism and investment destination. During the summit, Mozambique showcased its extensive coastline, idyllic islands, conservation areas, national parks, and rich historical and cultural heritage. The government views tourism as a key strategy for diversifying the economy, currently reliant on extractive industries. Reforms are underway to strengthen the tourism sector, including transforming the National Tourism Institute into the National Agency for Integrated Tourism Development. Furthermore, Mozambique is streamlining investment procedures, including electronic visa issuance and considering a “Gold Visa” program for foreign investors. Several international businesses expressed interest in projects within the country during meetings with President Chapo.
