The Mozambican government has dissolved the National School of Aeronautics as part of a broader restructuring of the country’s civil aviation sector. This decision, revoking a 2006 decree, aims to improve efficiency, sustainability, and the quality of aviation services. Replacing the former school is the newly established National Academy of Aeronautical Sciences, which will oversee all civil aviation professional training. The academy will reintroduce fixed-wing pilot training, reinstate flight attendant courses, and initiate rotary-wing pilot programs for helicopters. Officials state this change will reduce reliance on expensive overseas training, enhance operational efficiency and flight safety, and bolster national sovereignty in this strategic sector. The government believes investment in modern infrastructure and certified professionals is crucial for meeting international aviation standards and supporting the industry’s growth.
