The Mozambican government, through the National Social Action Council (CNAS), unveiled a 22 billion meticais (approximately $343.8 million) plan dedicated to bolstering social protection for children. This initiative aims to support vulnerable families and ensure access to essential services for children across the country. The funds will be distributed through existing social assistance programs, with a focus on direct financial transfers and support for education and healthcare. CNAS director, Rita Espinola, highlighted the program's intention to mitigate the impact of poverty on children’s development. The plan prioritizes reaching the most marginalized communities, particularly in rural areas. Implementation will occur in phases, with an emphasis on monitoring and evaluation to ensure efficacy and accountability.
