Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi promoted golf tourism as a key strategy for economic diversification and growth during the opening of the Presidential Golf Day event in Maputo. He highlighted the potential of golf to attract foreign investment, create jobs, and enhance the country’s international image. Nyusi emphasized Mozambique’s unique advantages as a tourist destination, including its coastline, natural heritage, and cultural diversity. He envisions tourism as a catalyst for national transformation, fostering entrepreneurship and strengthening local communities. The President noted golf’s evolving role beyond sport, now serving as a tool for tourism promotion, investor relations, and economic diplomacy. Mozambique received approximately 1.2 million tourists in 2025 and continues to attract significant investment, particularly in Vilankulo and Inhambane.
