A group of Vietnamese youths are allegedly defrauding new motorcycle buyers by offering to facilitate the vehicle registration process. The scammers contact buyers, claiming to arrange the handover of license plates—a necessary step for legal ownership transfer. They then lure the victims to a pre-arranged meeting location. Upon arrival, the perpetrators reportedly use weapons, including pitchforks and pepper spray, to steal the Honda Winner motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone. Authorities are investigating this emerging trend of vehicle-related robberies targeting new vehicle owners. This method exploits the required registration process and preys on individuals unfamiliar with local procedures. Police urge caution and advise verifying official channels for vehicle registration.
