Moroccan regional authorities have launched urgent inquiries into the non-transfer of public facilities—such as schools, parks, and infrastructure—from property developers to local municipalities. The investigations, initiated by the Ministry of Interior, target municipalities across several regions including Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, Marrakech-Asfi, and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima. Developers were granted building permits contingent on delivering these communal facilities, but have reportedly failed to do so. The inquiries seek clarification on the status of these facilities and the reasons for the delays. This action highlights growing concerns about oversight in Morocco’s rapid urban expansion and the enforcement of developer obligations. The issue centers on permits granted for land subdivision and the subsequent fulfillment of commitments to provide essential public services.
