Moroccan doctors have been operating under expired mandates since December 2022, creating instability within the medical profession. Private physicians are protesting negotiations concerning mandatory health insurance (AMO), service fees, and their role in upcoming territorial health groupings. A reform of law 08-12, scheduled for discussion on June 25th, is hoped to resolve the situation and allow for long-delayed elections to take place. Approximately 17,000 practitioners are affected by this impasse, impacting a sector that provides 67% of Morocco’s healthcare services. The proposed reform aims to address the concerns of private doctors and unlock the electoral process. The outcome of the Council of Government meeting is crucial for resolving the crisis and ensuring representation within the medical order.
