A new museum dedicated to Moroccan Jewish culture opened its doors in Fes el Bali on Monday, October 11th, following the recent opening of the Al-Bathaa Museum of Islamic Art. Serge Berdugo, Secretary-General of the Jewish Communities of Morocco, described the two museums as “twin museums,” highlighting their proximity and complementary narratives. This marks the first museum specifically dedicated to Moroccan Jewish culture within the Kingdom of Morocco’s museum landscape. The opening signifies a celebration of Morocco’s diverse cultural heritage and the historical coexistence of Jewish and Islamic communities. Located side-by-side in Fes el Bali, the museums offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore these intertwined histories. The Al-Bathaa Museum of Islamic Art preceded the opening of the Moroccan Jewish Culture Museum in Fes.
