Five years after a destructive tornado struck the Břeclav and Hodonín regions of Moravia, affected towns have largely completed repairs and are finalizing landscaping and public space improvements. While most residents have coped well with the disaster, some continue to grapple with its aftermath, according to psychologists. The tornado, which occurred on June 24, 2021, claimed six lives and damaged over 1200 homes. Communities are now focused on development projects alongside the completion of restoration efforts. Despite the progress, many residents express a desire to move forward and not dwell on the anniversary of the event. The recovery signifies resilience, but the emotional scars remain for some within the impacted areas.
