The highest peak in Europe, Mont Blanc in France, has decreased in height by more than one meter over the past year. Measurements taken by a team of surveyors revealed the current height to be 4,807.47 meters above sea level. This marks a reduction of 1.29 meters since 2025, according to reports from The Guardian. The significant loss is attributed to the melting of the glacier and snowpack covering the mountain. Surveyors noted that in some areas, streams are now flowing where glaciers once existed. This shrinking of Mont Blanc serves as a stark reminder of the impact of climate change on the Alpine region. The observed changes are raising concerns about the future stability and iconic status of "the roof of Europe."
