A recent online poll indicates strong public support for extending the national holiday surrounding Mongolia’s Naadam Festival. Currently, Mongolians receive six days of national holiday from July 10-15. This year, the first two days of Naadam fall on a weekend, prompting calls to move the subsequent workdays to create a ten-day break from July 10-19. The poll, conducted over five days with 2,659 participants, showed 85.4% support for the extended holiday. A previous draft law addressing weekend holidays was withdrawn from parliament, leaving the issue unresolved. The government is now considering a resolution to address the situation and potentially grant the extended break. This reflects a desire among citizens to maximize time off during the important cultural celebration of Naadam.
