Toshinofuji O.Demijamts, son of legendary sumo wrestler G.Osohbayar, has been promoted to the top division of professional sumo wrestling in Japan. The announcement came today with the release of the rankings for the upcoming Autumn tournament. Demijamts, who turned 26 recently, began his professional sumo career in May 2024 and achieved a qualifying record of 11 wins in his previous tournament. This promotion makes him the 33rd wrestler of Mongolian origin to reach the highest rank in sumo. Standing at 195cm and weighing 151kg, Demijamts currently holds a record of 84 wins and 38 losses. Other ranking changes include Aonishiki regaining his Ozeki title, and Daiesho and Fujinokawa achieving Komusubi and Sekiwake ranks, respectively.
