The Mongolian government is actively working on short, medium, and long-term plans related to fuel supply, addressing issues with imports from Russia, China, and South Korea. Recent government discussions focused on resolving legal obstacles and tax debts hindering the construction of an oil refinery in Dornogovi province’s Altanshiree soum. The government has tasked ministers with increasing credit lines, developing the project as a technological park, and securing the construction site with domestic military protection. Plans also include training refinery staff and ensuring transparent public information. The refinery is currently 60% complete and slated for operation in 2028. Prime Minister N. Uchral has placed the refinery under his direct control to expedite progress and reduce reliance on fuel imports, vowing to personally address any emerging issues. Additionally, the government is monitoring loan disbursement for fuel storage projects.
