Mongolia’s Foreign Nationals and Immigration Agency reports a significant increase in foreign nationals residing in the country. In the past month, over 5,100 visas were approved, alongside 15,574 visa extensions. Additionally, over 8,100 residency permits were granted, and over 4,000 were extended. Compared to the previous year, visa approvals decreased by 13.6%, while residency permits increased by 61.3% and extensions by 8.9%. As of May 31, 2026, Mongolia hosts 41,405 foreign citizens from 132 countries with residency permits for various purposes. Nearly 25,000 are employed, 5,539 are investors, 4,570 are students, and the remainder are family members or present for other reasons. Detailed data is available on the Open Data Portal of Mongolia.
