Mongolia is set to receive the results of its second participation in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) on September 8th. Conducted every three years by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), PISA evaluates the skills of 15-year-old students in reading, mathematics, and science. Mongolia first participated in 2022, where initial findings indicated weaknesses in reading comprehension among students. Following the 2022 assessment, the Ministry of Education pledged to focus on developing higher-order thinking skills – understanding, creating new knowledge, and applying it. The 2025 assessment, which took place between March and May, included a record 91 countries and introduced new metrics like problem-solving and artificial intelligence application. The results will be presented in Ulaanbaatar at 3:30 PM local time, offering insights into the progress of Mongolian education.
