George Montes Jr. was saved as a two-year-old by Miami firefighter Mary Gavin, and the pair recently reunited at his high school graduation. Gavin revived Montes years ago, and he credits her quick actions with giving him his life. Now 17, Montes shared that Gavin’s heroism inspired him to pursue a career as a firefighter. He intends to dedicate himself to the profession to give back for what she did for him. The emotional reunion was a highlight of the graduation ceremony in Miami. Montes hopes to follow in Gavin’s footsteps and make a similar positive impact on others.
