An analysis by the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) of the first 100 completed media funding competitions in Serbia reveals a significant concentration of state financial support towards outlets perceived as pro-government. Specifically, "Informer" and affiliated companies received nearly 100 million dinars, representing a substantial portion of the allocated funds. The findings raise concerns about equitable distribution and potential political influence over media financing. ANEM’s assessment indicates a pattern where media outlets aligned with the ruling authorities disproportionately benefit from public funds intended to support media pluralism. Critics argue this practice undermines media independence and diversity. The report highlights a need for greater transparency and objective criteria in the allocation of state aid to the media sector. Further analysis is expected to examine the long-term impact of this funding distribution on the Serbian media landscape.
