Two members of the British trip-hop group Massive Attack received warnings and were barred from re-entering Singapore following a display of the Palestinian flag during a recent concert. The display violated conditions set by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), which regulates public entertainment events. Singapore has strict laws regarding political activity during performances, and displays of support for political causes are heavily restricted. The IMDA stated that the band had been informed beforehand about these regulations. As a result of the incident, the IMDA will also deny any future applications for performances by Massive Attack in the country. This decision underscores Singapore’s firm stance on maintaining neutrality in political matters during public events. The band has not yet publicly commented on the ban.
