Following clashes, the government has closed a large portion of high schools in Marseille. At one of the few remaining open schools, police deployed in riot gear conducted searches of student backpacks to prevent weapons or projectiles. Many students did not attend classes, citing poor conditions such as unclean classrooms and excessive heat due to a lack of air conditioning. One student stated that, while violence is not ideal, it feels like the only way to be heard. Numerous universities in Marseille have also been closed as a result of the ongoing unrest. The situation reflects heightened tensions following the protests.
