A dispute over a $5 debt escalated into a violent attack in Wassadou, Senegal, leaving one man with severe burns. Samba Gueye allegedly set his friend, S. B., on fire after repeated failed attempts to collect the money owed. The incident occurred at a local motorcycle station on May 30th, after Gueye confronted S. B. and, despite initial intervention by bystanders who confiscated one bottle of gasoline, returned with another. Gueye then doused S. B. in fuel and ignited it. Quick action by witnesses prevented further injury and saved S. B.’s life, though he remains hospitalized with serious wounds. Gueye has been arrested and is facing attempted homicide charges as authorities investigate the incident.
