Following the collapse of the first three floors of a seven-story building in Maltepe, an investigation was launched resulting in the arrest of the building’s architect, H.B., and the site manager, M.O. The collapse in Maltepe previously resulted in five fatalities. Both H.B. and M.O. were taken into custody as part of the investigation into the building’s failure. Following interrogation, a court ordered both men to be held in pre-trial detention. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the structural failure in Maltepe. The incident has raised concerns about building safety standards in the area.
