A 39-year-old Malaysian pilot has been arrested at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport after customs officials discovered 70,000 ecstasy pills in his luggage. The Malaysia Airlines pilot allegedly smuggled the drugs while on duty, flying from Kuala Lumpur. He was also found to be under the influence of MDMA, cocaine, and methamphetamine. Authorities believe the pilot was promised over €10,000 for transporting the drugs, weighing several kilograms, at the request of an acquaintance. He admitted to this being his third attempt at smuggling drugs into Indonesia and Malaysia, suggesting involvement in a larger international drug syndicate.
