Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) officials recently confiscated a substantial shipment of illicit cigarettes in Kelantan. The seizure occurred last week near Kampung Penambang, Pasir Puteh. Authorities discovered 24 boxes of contraband cigarettes, estimated to be worth approximately RM212,000 (roughly $47,000 USD). The operation targeted smuggling activities along a local river. No arrests have been publicly reported in connection with the case. The MMEA continues to patrol Malaysian waterways to combat illegal trade and protect national revenue. Investigations are ongoing to identify those involved in the cigarette smuggling ring.
