A large fire broke out Wednesday morning in the Craica informal settlement on the outskirts of Baia Mare. The flames damaged multiple homes and burned approximately one hectare of land. According to the Maramureș County Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU Maramureș), the fire was deliberately set. Authorities are currently investigating the arson. The incident has left residents of the Craica settlement displaced and under investigation. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent further spread within the Baia Mare periphery. The cause is currently being investigated as a criminal act.
