A fire broke out in a patient room at a hospital in Magdeburg, Germany, injuring three people. One patient is in critical condition due to smoke inhalation and is receiving intensive care, while two others sustained minor injuries. The blaze originated around 8:00 AM on a gastroenterology ward and was quickly contained by firefighters. As a precaution, approximately seventy patients were evacuated and are being relocated to other departments within the hospital. The affected ward is currently unusable, limiting the hospital’s gastroenterology capacity. Authorities estimate the damage to be in the millions due to significant smoke damage, however, the hospital remains open to other patients. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
