Lithuania is considering a new policy to bar Russian and Belarusian artists, academics, and sports figures who have supported or performed in occupied Ukraine. The proposal, put forth by the Foreign Ministry, aims to restrict entry to individuals who demonstrate support for the war in Ukraine. Those failing a specially designed test assessing their views would be denied access to the country. This measure targets individuals who actively backed the conflict or performed in territories occupied by Russian forces. Lithuanian officials believe this is a necessary step to uphold the country's values and demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine. The proposal is currently under review and its implementation details are yet to be finalized, but signals a hardening stance toward individuals perceived as enabling Russian aggression. It represents a further tightening of restrictions on Russian and Belarusian nationals following the invasion of Ukraine.
